Every session adds more pigment impressions and brings the treatment closer to the planned result. The visible effect begins in session one; density, feathering, balance, and integration develop across later sessions.

The foundation and initial hairline shape begin as pigment is deposited. You can see a cosmetic difference after this first session, while the healed appearance develops as the skin settles.

How much does a hair tattoo cost?
Hair tattoo is another common name for scalp micropigmentation. At SCALPS, shaved SMP is $1,100 per session and density SMP is $1,200 per session. Typical three-session totals are $3,300 and $3,600 respectively; your starting point determines the plan.
What should I compare in an SMP price quote?
Confirm the treatment area, per-session rate, expected number of sessions, whether additional sessions cost extra, aftercare guidance, and future touch-up terms. Review original healed results from the artist who would treat you.
What other costs should I budget for?
Ask for written clarification on additional sessions, future touch-ups and any aftercare products. If you travel for SMP, allow for transport and accommodation across your planned visits. Financing costs depend on the terms offered; compare the total payable, not only a monthly payment.
Is SMP cheaper than a hair transplant?
The treatments do different things. SMP creates a visual impression; a transplant relocates hair follicles. Compare individually assessed complete quotes, expected maintenance and the result each treatment can provide, rather than assuming a fixed saving.

How much does an SMP touch-up cost?
For a touch-up of existing SMP, a returning SCALPS client pays $1,100 per session. Work originally completed by another provider is $1,200 per session and must be assessed first.
Is density treatment priced differently?
Yes. Density treatment is $1,200 per session because pigment is placed between existing hair. SMP creates the appearance of density; it does not grow hair.
Is scar camouflage priced the same way?
Scar camouflage requires an individual assessment. The scar, surrounding hair, skin, and treatment area determine what can be planned.
Will I see a difference after the first session?
Pigment is placed during the first session, beginning the visible cosmetic change. The finished appearance develops across the planned sessions and healing; individual results vary.
How long does SMP last before a refresh?
Refresh timing varies with skin, sun exposure, pigment, aftercare, and the individual treatment. Your artist should explain the expected maintenance plan for your case.
Is the consultation free, and what is the procedure deposit?
Your consultation is free; no procedure deposit is needed to book it. If you choose to proceed, a $100 deposit reserves your SMP procedure appointment—not the consultation. It is fully refundable with notice at least seven calendar days before the scheduled procedure and forfeited with less notice. Financing is available; review current terms and eligibility before applying.
Why do SMP quotes vary by provider, city, or country?
Quotes can differ because treatment scope, sessions, overhead, experience, and prior work differ. Compare what the quote includes and review healed results rather than geography alone.
Can another provider continue or touch up existing work?
Another provider can assess existing work, but pigment, technique, design, and treatment history may affect what can be added. SCALPS prices outside-provider work separately after assessment.
