The appearance of hair. The detail of SMP.

Less about hair loss.
More about your next look.

If checking your hairline in photos or thinking about wearing a hat is taking up more attention than you want, it is worth understanding your options.

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP), often called a hair tattoo, uses small pigment impressions to create the appearance of hair follicles.

For men, that can mean a balanced, close-shaved hairline or less visible scalp through thinning hair. It changes how hair density appears—it does not grow new hair.

The right plan depends on your existing hair, scalp, preferred length and the result you want to maintain.

Your existing hair helps determine
which one fits.

A close-shaved look

SMP for short
or shaved hair.

For a receding hairline, bald scalp or horseshoe pattern. SMP creates the appearance of closely shaved follicles, designed to blend with the hair you keep short.

What this plan involves

The design needs to work with your sides and back. Your consultation covers hairline shape, shade, density and how closely you will maintain your remaining hair.

Density with length

SMP for longer,
thinning hair.

For men keeping their hair longer. Pigment between existing hairs reduces visible scalp contrast—it adds the appearance of density, not growing hair.

What this plan involves

This is a different approach from a shaved-look treatment. Existing hair distribution, coverage and possible future hair loss are assessed before we recommend density SMP.

How scalp micropigmentation for men works

The detail is
the difference.

The finished appearance is built through considered stages. The plan is personal; the aim is balance, not the darkest possible result.

Assess. Design. Agree.

Discuss your starting point and expectations. Establish a hairline and approach that you understand before treatment begins.

Build the impressions.

Visible change begins, then density and feathering develop across your treatment plan. Each stage informs the next.

Let it settle. Refine.

Assess the healed appearance and refine balance where appropriate. Fresh pigment and settled work should not be judged as the same stage.

Is a hair tattoo the same as SMP?

Hair tattoo is a common name for scalp micropigmentation. Hairline tattoo usually describes SMP focused on framing the face. The technique creates follicle-like impressions, rather than individual growing hairs. The proposed shape and density should match the appearance you want.

Do I have to shave my head?

A shaved-look treatment is designed to work with closely maintained existing hair. A suitable density treatment may let you keep more length. We assess your hair distribution and preferred style before recommending one approach; the same plan does not fit both.

How much does SMP for men cost?

The scope of treatment and session plan affect your total. Review our published per-session prices, then use your consultation to establish the applicable category, expected sessions and estimated total. Avoid comparing an isolated session price with somebody else’s complete treatment price.

What about healing, exercise and discomfort?

SMP is cosmetic tattooing, so comfort and recovery vary. You will need to follow the treatment-stage aftercare instructions, including relevant washing, sweating and sun-exposure restrictions. Discuss sensitivities and scheduling before booking, rather than assuming there are no recovery considerations.

Will I need touch-ups?

Pigment appearance can change over time, and some clients need maintenance. Your skin, care and exposure are relevant. Ask about long-term expectations and how future changes to your natural hair could affect the design; SMP does not stop hair loss.

How do I know if the result will look natural?

Ask to see healed work from more than one angle, not only fresh close-ups. Look at the hairline transition, impression scale and how the treatment relates to the remaining hair. Rafael’s documented case gives you a useful starting point for that conversation.
