Women’s SMP results.
The detail matters.
Density SMP is about the scalp you see between your hairs. The goal is a balanced appearance that works with the hair already there.
Look at the part, the surrounding hair and the transition into untreated areas—not just how dark a photograph looks.

What scalp micropigmentation does
Less contrast.
Not more hair.
Scalp micropigmentation for women places tiny pigment impressions in the scalp. Between existing hairs, they can reduce the contrast that makes thinning more noticeable.
“Hair tattoo” describes the same basic idea. It changes the appearance of scalp show-through; it does not grow hair, add physical volume or treat the cause of hair loss.
Understand how SMP works
Your starting point matters
Where do you notice
your scalp most?
Your part, crown and hairline ask different questions. We assess the visible area, remaining hair and how you want to wear it.

A widening part.
The plan considers the visible line and the surrounding hair, so pigment does not become a dark stripe.

More scalp showing.
We look at the whole area of show-through, including how the hair falls and what will remain visible.

Thinner at the edges.
Density work must belong beside your existing hairline. It is not the same plan as a closely shaved look.
Illustrative starting points—not client results or a diagnosis.
Discuss your hair with usAn assessment comes first.
New, patchy or unexplained hair loss deserves medical evaluation. A cosmetic consultation is not a diagnosis, and not every scalp is suitable for SMP. Learn about diagnosing hair loss.

A density plan.
Not a one-visit promise.
Assess & plan.
Discuss your goals, hair length, starting point and expected visits before deciding on treatment.
Build the impression.
Pigment is placed between existing hairs across the agreed treatment area. The effect develops in planned sessions.
Review & refine.
Allow the skin to settle, then assess the balance before adding more. Your aftercare and future maintenance belong in the plan.

Alex AsherSCALPS founder & SMP artist
Choosing density SMP means choosing the person who plans every impression. At SCALPS, Alex designs the treatment around your existing hair—not a one-size-fits-all pattern.
Your hair stays the starting point.
Your usual part, the way your hair falls and the scalp visible in everyday light guide the placement, spacing and tone.
You deserve a clear answer.
We discuss whether SMP fits your goals, what it cannot change and the likely sessions and care involved before you commit.

Do I have to shave my hair for density SMP?
Density work is planned around existing hair, rather than a shaved-head style. Discuss your current length and usual part with us before making any haircut changes. We confirm any preparation your individual plan requires.
Can SMP help women with thinning hair?
It may make visible scalp less noticeable where enough surrounding hair remains to support the intended appearance. Suitability depends on the hair-loss pattern, scalp condition and goals—not age or a photograph alone.
Is a hair tattoo the same as regrowing hair?
No. SMP is a cosmetic pigment effect. It does not restore follicles or stop further hair loss. It should not replace medical care for an underlying condition.
Is scalp microblading the same as SMP?
People sometimes use these search terms interchangeably, but ask what technique is actually being offered. Our density SMP approach uses small pigment impressions to reduce scalp contrast—not an eyebrow-style drawing of long hair strands.
What if my hair keeps thinning?
Talk through that possibility before treatment. Changing hair coverage can alter what pigment looks like over time. Your plan should consider continued medical care where appropriate and future cosmetic maintenance.
How long will the appearance last?
Pigment can remain for years, but its appearance changes. Skin, sun exposure, aftercare and the treatment affect when a refresh may be appropriate. There is no universal touch-up date.
Is there healing or aftercare?
Yes. Nonsurgical does not mean risk-free or care-free. Potential risks include infection, allergy and an unwanted pigment appearance. Ask about scalp care and when to resume washing, exercise and hair coloring before booking.
What should I look for in women’s SMP results?
Look for clear views of the part and scalp between existing hair. Ask about lighting, hair styling, treatment timing and maintenance. A dark after photo alone does not tell you how the work will look in everyday light.
